Anti-narcotics detectives arrested a suspected drug trafficker, Anita Michael, in Mombasa’s Utange area on Friday.
The arrest followed a tip-off from locals concerned about the high number of young people frequenting her residence for what they believed were illegal supplies.
During the early-morning raid, officers seized 100 pellets containing a brownish powdery substance suspected to be narcotics, along with an unspecified quantity of marijuana. They also recovered cash believed to be proceeds from drug trafficking.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) confirmed the operation, crediting community members for their vigilance in reporting the activity. Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
