Two suspects appeared before the Milimani Law Courts on Friday, facing multiple charges of computer fraud.
Alex Kimaiyo Kiprono and Emmanuel Kipkoech Rotich were accused of unlawfully accessing bank accounts and illegally withdrawing funds.
One notable allegation involves the breach of a local financial institution’s security systems, where the suspects are said to have transferred over Ksh.1.8 million from a joint account.
The court, upon a request by detectives, ordered the detention of Rotich for five days to allow further investigations. Kiprono, however, was granted release on a bond of Ksh.1 million or an alternative cash bail of Ksh.650,000.
