A group of young women attending a prayer session at St. Peter and Paul Parish in Etago, Mugirango South, Kisii County, were asked to leave the church over allegations of indecent dressing.
The incident occurred during a youth-focused prayer event on Thursday, aimed at imparting Biblical teachings and guidance on proper living.
Cleric Benjamin Ndemo, addressing the situation, stated that the women’s attire did not align with the church’s customs and expectations. He emphasized the importance of modesty, asserting that proper conduct includes dressing appropriately for the occasion.
“It is not right to dress indecently. There is a certain way that both men and women are supposed to conduct themselves, and that includes the manner in which they dress,” Ndemo remarked.
The session, intended to encourage moral and spiritual growth among the youth, became a platform for the clergy to reinforce church values and standards.
