President William Ruto has appointed former Gender and Affirmative Action Cabinet Secretary (CS) Aisha Jumwa to a new government role.
In a gazette notice dated Friday, January 17, 2025, Jumwa was named the non-executive Chairperson of the Kenya Roads Board (KRB). Her appointment is set to last for three years, effective immediately. The notice also announced the revocation of Ahmed Kolosh Mohamed’s appointment to the same position.
“By virtue of the powers conferred by section 7(1)(a) of the Kenya Roads Board Act, as read together with section 51(1) of the Interpretation and General Provisions Act, I, William Samoei Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya and Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Forces, appoint Aisha Jumwa Katana as the non-executive Chairperson of the Kenya Roads Board for a period of three (3) years, effective January 17, 2025,” read part of the notice.
Ahmed Kolosh Mohamed, a former Wajir West MP, had held the position since his appointment in April 2023.
Jumwa’s new appointment follows her removal from the Cabinet in July 2024, during a reshuffle prompted by the aftermath of the Gen Z protests. She was one of eight Cabinet Secretaries not reappointed.
In related appointments, Defence Cabinet Secretary Soipan Tuya has named Millicent Omanga as a member of the Board of Directors of Kenya Shipyard Limited.
These changes mark continued efforts by President Ruto’s administration to reconfigure key government positions and enhance service delivery.
