Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has officially unveiled his new political formation, Sauti Ya Mwananchi, following a promise he made to Kenyans in December. Gachagua announced the formation on Friday, January 10, after a strategic meeting with several political allies at his Wamunyoro home in Nyeri County.
Gachagua emphasized that the new political movement is designed to secure the interests of ordinary Kenyans, asserting, “We shall never gamble with our votes again.” The meeting brought together a coalition of influential leaders, including governors, senators, MPs, and MCAs, who pledged their support for the new initiative.
Key figures present included Senator Methu, Kirinyaga Woman Representative Njeri Maina, Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga, MPs Onesmus Ngogoyo (Kajiado North), Mary Wamau (Maragua), Jayne Kihara (Naivasha), and Gathoni Wamuchomba (Githunguri). Former Laikipia County Woman Representative Cate Waruguru also attended.
Gachagua, who has been building alliances within the Azimio la Umoja opposition coalition, indicated that Sauti Ya Mwananchi would provide a clear roadmap for the 2025 political landscape.
Meanwhile, Makueni Senator Dan Maanzo hinted at a potential alliance between the Wiper Party and Gachagua in preparation for the 2027 elections, signaling a growing coalition of interests.
