Lugulu Girls High School in Bungoma has achieved remarkable success in the 2024 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams, following the release of its previously withheld results by the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC).
Out of 676 candidates, 672 achieved grades of C+ and above, qualifying for university admission. The school attained an impressive mean score of 9.3417, surpassing its 2023 mean score of 9.3306.
Expressing her joy, Principal Dinah Cheruiyot remarked, “We thank God because we have waited for our results for a very long time, almost two weeks. We had sleepless nights, but finally, as a school, we received our results yesterday, and the girls have done very well.”
The delayed results did little to dampen the spirits of the students, who celebrated their triumph with jubilation.
Streets in Webuye town came alive with excitement as students proudly waved the national and school flags, their smiles reflecting their hard-earned success.
Lugulu Girls achieved exceptional individual performances, contributing to the national total of 1,693 A plains. The school recorded:
- –13 A plains
- – 93 A- grades
- – 191 B+ grades
- – 232 B grades
- – 118 B- grades
- – 25 C+ grades
Only four candidates scored below the C+ university entry threshold, with one attaining a C, another a C-, and two scoring D+.
The results, initially withheld alongside those of 2,829 other candidates nationwide, caused significant anxiety among parents and students.
Education Cabinet Secretary Ogamba had cited suspected exam irregularities as the reason for the delay, pending investigations expected to conclude within 30 days.
