Narc Kenya Party leader Martha Karua has declared her intention to run for the presidency in the upcoming 2027 General Election. Speaking during a burial ceremony in Kiandieri, Kirinyaga County, on Friday, Karua announced that she would no longer vie for a deputy position, signaling her ambition to compete for the top seat.
“I want to tell my good former Senator Daniel Karaba that I’m beyond any running mate position. I will be going for the top seat come the next election,” Karua stated.
Her announcement comes amid growing criticism of the Kenya Kwanza administration. Karua has been vocal about opposing what she terms the government’s failures, including its handling of security issues, economic challenges, and governance.
She also condemned the recent surge in abductions and extrajudicial killings, attributing them to individuals believed to be rogue police officers. “These abductions and killings of our youth is now a worrying trend that must stop forthwith,” Karua emphasized, calling on President William Ruto’s administration to uphold its responsibility to protect Kenyan citizens.
Karua’s presidential bid is expected to rally support from opposition factions and like-minded Kenyans dissatisfied with the current regime, further consolidating her role as a key figure in the opposition.
