Billy Mwangi, one of five abductees recently released on January 6, 2024, has spoken out about misleading posts circulating online that falsely claim to be from him.
In a statement issued on January 7, 2025, Mwangi warned the public against believing posts from pseudo-accounts impersonating him on X (formerly Twitter). He clarified that his official X account had been hacked and his phone confiscated during his abduction.
“Those guys using X parody accounts are not me. Currently, I am not on X. My X account was hacked, and my phone was confiscated, but I shall update you guys in due course,” Mwangi explained.
Reflecting on his ordeal, Mwangi revealed that his head had been shaved during his captivity. Despite this, he expressed gratitude and reassured his supporters of his ongoing recovery.
“To my X team and those from Nairobi and Embu, I love you so much. Even though they shaved my head, I am back and healing. I am recuperating well physically, but mentally, there is still a problem. I will be fine,” he said.
Mwangi was abducted on December 21, 2024, in Embu while waiting for a haircut at a local barbershop. He disclosed that he was held in a dark room for 15 days, enduring a traumatic experience that continues to affect him despite his reunion with his family.
