Former Mungiki leader Maina Njenga stormed a prayer rally organised by ousted Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s wife Dorcas in Nyeri town.
Videos circlating on X have shown the ex-Mungiki leader accompanied by dozens of youth forcefully taking sitting space on the main dias.
Despite the event being a public one, Maina Njenga was not scheduled to attend the religious meeting.
The incident happened at Kamukunji Grounds, where Pastor Dorcas was presiding over a prayer event.
According to eyewitness reports, Pastor Dorcas was forced to leave the event after the chaos erupted.
Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and spouse to Pastor Dorcas, was expected to attend the event later in the afternoon.
Since his impeachment in October last year, the former DP has been one of the fiercest critics of President Ruto.
In recent days, the former Mungiki leader has also been seen to be tinkering towards William Ruto.
A few weeks ago, Njenga expressed his full support for President William Ruto’s administration, pledging to back the president’s initiatives in the Mount Kenya region.
Njenga made these remarks during the National Prayers event held at Kabiruini Grounds in Nyeri County.
The ex-Mungiki leader also vowed to counter and undermine any leaders opposed to President William Ruto, including the ousted former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
