Three individuals, including two directors of Omnicare Medical Limited (Body by Design medical clinic) and a cosmetic surgeon, have been charged with manslaughter following the tragic death of Lucy Wambui Ng’ang’a.

The accused, Lilian Edna Wanjiru, George Wakaria Njoroge, and Robert Maweu Mutula, appeared before Senior Principal Magistrate Samson Temu at the Kibera Law Courts where they denied the charges.

The charges stem from the death of Ms. Wambui, who passed away after undergoing liposuction and Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) surgeries at the clinic on October 16, 2024.

The prosecution argued against granting the accused persons bail or bond, citing the severity of the charges—potential life imprisonment—and the possibility of witness interference. Additionally, the prosecution raised concerns over the continued operation of the clinic, fearing it could endanger other patients’ lives and hinder the ongoing investigation.

The court ordered that the three suspects be remanded in custody, with a ruling on their bail application set for Thursday, April 3, 2025.

An autopsy conducted on Ms. Wambui revealed that during her procedures at Body by Design, her intestines were perforated, causing intestinal waste to leak into other organs, leading to organ failure and ultimately her death.
