Mary Biketi has opened up about her relationship with veteran politician and current Cabinet Secretary Wycliffe Oparanya, pushing back against widespread assumptions about her financial dependence on him.

In a revealing radio interview, Biketi addressed ongoing speculation suggesting that her lavish lifestyle is fully bankrolled by the former Kakamega governor. She was quick to clarify that she is financially self-sufficient and contributes equally in their relationship.

“People think that without waziri I have no life. I want people to know that I do my own business, and pay my own bills. Yes, he financed the business, and as much as he is there, I also pay my bills,” she stated firmly.

Biketi also shared the story of how the two first met, which she described as a chance encounter at an airport.

“We met at the airport, Wilson. I was going to Kisumu. We happened to share the same flight,” she recalled.

The connection was instant, as she recounted with a smile:
“I just saw him getting in and I was like, ‘Oh my God’. We sat and waited for the flight to be ready. I took my seat and then he came. That was it. The rest is history.”
