Media personality Kamene Goro has addressed the backlash she received after advising women in their 20s not to limit themselves to one man. The 33-year-old had sparked heated online discussions after stating on live radio that young women should explore before settling down.
“Your youth is yours to experiment, go out and kiss all the frogs before you find your prince charming,” Kamene said during her show. “How would you know what your prince charming is if you are stuck with one frog? How will you know what you like in a man if you limit yourself to one?”
The statement quickly stirred reactions across social media, with many accusing Kamene of promoting reckless behavior. However, the former radio host has come forward to clarify her comments, saying they were taken out of context.
“I feel like people are taking it way out of proportion,” Kamene explained. “I said this should only be done within the scope of responsibility. I am not saying just go out there and be with anyone and everybody recklessly. Number two, I said date. I did not say go and have s*x with everybody. I did not say go and sleep with four men at the same time. No. I said date. It is important to go out there and see what is out there to know what you like. Stop making it seem like I am trying to encourage young girls to be irresponsible. Can we all calm down?”
