Police in Kisumu are investigating the suspected suicide of a 20-year-old Maseno University student whose body was discovered on Wednesday, April 2, inside his rented residence.
The first-year student is believed to have taken his own life by hanging. According to preliminary reports, the deceased used a sisal rope tied to one of the roof rafters in his house.
His lifeless body was discovered hours later under unclear circumstances.
A suicide note was recovered at the scene and is currently undergoing forensic analysis to confirm its authenticity and whether it was indeed penned by the student.
The body has been moved to the morgue pending a postmortem examination, which is expected to offer further insight into the cause of death.
