Two men who disguised themselves as glamorous female masseuses have landed in police custody after allegedly conning and robbing a client of Ksh.280,000 during what was supposed to be a massage session.
According to a report released by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Thursday, the suspects—Alex Mugo Wachira and Simon Chomba Mbogo—had set up fake online profiles, posing as attractive women offering professional massage services.
Drawn in by the alluring adverts, the unsuspecting victim arranged for a session at a massage spa along Lumumba Drive in Nairobi’s Kasarani area. But once inside, the experience took a terrifying turn.
“Moments into the ‘massage,’ the two suspects drew knives, exposing both their true identities and complete lack of massage skills. They then coerced the victim into transferring Ksh.280,000 to their mobile number and made away with his valuables before tossing him out,” the DCI report noted.
Following investigations, the suspects were traced and arrested while enjoying themselves at a hideout in the Kamiti prison area—likely funded by their ill-gotten gains.
The duo is currently being held in police custody and is expected to be arraigned soon.
Police and authorities have also cautioned men against visiting dingy parlours which may not be genuine as these may be harbouring criminals and shady characters.
