Social media influencer Elsa Majimbo, has offered her perspective on what dating looks like in Los Angeles, shedding light on cultural norms that may differ from other places.
In a candid TikTok video, Majimbo described the casual nature of dating in L.A., explaining that it’s common to see multiple people at once before a relationship becomes exclusive.
“Dating in L.A. means seeing multiple people at the same time—it’s just understood,” she said on TikTok.
She emphasized that exclusivity only begins when both parties agree to become official. “It’s only when you’re officially boyfriend and girlfriend that it becomes exclusive. Before that, dating multiple people is normal. Here, being someone’s partner is serious—people move in together, have kids, or even get a dog. It’s a big commitment.”
Majimbo also noted that dating in L.A. comes without the pressure of defining the relationship early on. “No one asks, ‘What are we?’ after a few weeks or a month.”
