Pastor Kanyari reveals the millions he made from his famous ‘Mbegu ya 310’ offerings

Controversial preacher Prophet Victor Kanyari has opened up about the huge sums of money he made from his well-known ‘Mbegu ya 310’ campaign, where he asked followers to send KSh310 for blessings and miracles.

In a recent candid interview, Kanyari revealed that at the height of the campaign, he would receive between KSh700,000 and KSh1 million daily from eager Kenyans hoping for divine favour.

“Kwa siku watu walikuwa wanatuma sadaka kama seven hundred thousand to one million per day,” he said.

The founder of Salvation Healing Ministry, Kanyari was widely criticised for this initiative nearly a decade ago, but he’s now defending his actions. He argued that asking for KSh310 was nothing out of the ordinary, especially compared to other churches that, according to him, request even larger offerings.

“Nilikuwa naitisha mbegu ya 310… hakuna kitu kubwa hapo. Kanisa zingine zinaomba elfu saba, elfu kumi, mashamba, mbuzi, kondoo… mimi nilikuwa naomba mia tatu na kumi,” he explained.

Kanyari insisted the idea came directly from God and pointed to the overwhelming response as proof of divine instruction.

“Ni Mungu aliniongelesha… na unaona watu walikuwa wanatuma? Kama haingekuwa Mungu, wasingetuma,” he claimed. For those unfamiliar, Prophet Victor Mwangi Kanyari is a Nairobi-based pastor who shot to fame — and infamy — in 2014 after a damning exposé revealed his church was collecting money from desperate believers in exchange for promises of miracles. The scandal led to the temporary closure of his church.

His wife and mother of his children, musician Betty Bayo also left him after that scandal.

In 2017, Kanyari rebranded both himself and his ministry. He dropped the name Pastor Kanyari for Pastor Mwangi and relaunched his church operations. He also ventured into the media business, launching several TV and radio stations including SHIFU TV, Prophetic TV, Vicka TV, Dunny TV, and Rockwell FM.

In recent times, however, Kanyari has made headlines for less-than-holy activities on TikTok. The preacher has been hosting controversial live sessions, where he’s been asking fans to send him videos of ‘nyash’, stirring fresh criticism online.
