The late Kasipul Member of Parliament, Charles Ong’ondo Were, will be laid to rest on Friday, May 9, exactly one week after he was fatally shot in Nairobi.

The burial date was confirmed by a parliamentary funeral committee chaired by Homa Bay Town MP Peter Kaluma. According to Kaluma, preparations for the final send-off are already underway, with coordination involving Parliament, the Homa Bay County government, and the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party.

The tragic death of the legislator, a prominent ODM figure, has sent shockwaves across the country, prompting widespread calls for justice and tighter security for public officials.

More details on the burial programme and memorial services are expected to be released in the coming days.
