Murang’a Governor Dr. Irungu Kang’ata has nominated former Teachers Service Commission (TSC) Chief Executive Officer Nancy Njeri Macharia to serve as the Chairperson of the Murang’a County Public Service Board.
The nomination was communicated to the Murang’a County Assembly in a letter dated June 18, 2025, marking a significant step in the governor’s effort to restructure county public service operations.
Dr. Macharia is among five individuals nominated to serve on the board, which plays a central role in managing human resources and appointments within the county government.
“Pursuant to Section 6 of the Public Appointments (County Assemblies Approval) Act 2017 and Section 58A (7) of the County Governments Act, 2012, vide a letter Ref. MCG/CS/GOV/ST/2(162) dated June 10, 2025, the County Assembly received notification that Governor of Murang’a County Government Dr Irungu Kang’ata has nominated the following as Chairperson, Members and Secretary to the Murang’a County Public Service Board,” read the official message tabled before the Assembly.
Macharia’s nomination will now undergo vetting and approval by the Murang’a County Assembly in accordance with legal provisions governing public appointments.
Dr. Macharia served as the TSC CEO from 2015 until her retirement in 2024 .
The new nomination comes just as Dr. Macharia’s term as TSC CEO comes to an end on June 30, 2025.
TSC has since named Eveleen Mitei as Acting CEO through an internal memo dated June 1, 2025.
