Spotify has announced rising Kenyan singer Njerae as the EQUAL Africa ambassador for the month of June. The recognition is part of Spotify’s EQUAL Africa program — a platform designed to promote gender equity in the music industry by amplifying the voices of female artists across the continent.

For Njerae, the recognition goes beyond being a career milestone. “This is such a huge opportunity for me and I’m super excited to have my face on such a platform,” she says. “It’s such an amazing program especially that focuses on putting women on top, empowering them, and I love that. It’s something that pushes us, and it’s a huge honor.”

Known for her distinct sound, Njerae describes her music as “really soulful and refreshing… like a breath of fresh air.” She credits her musical influences to the African artists who came before her, shaping both her sound and her journey as an artist.

Njerae’s selection as an EQUAL Africa ambassador places her among a growing list of talented African women being spotlighted by Spotify for their impact and potential in shaping the future of music on the continent.
