Kenyan digital content creator Alma Mutheu has urged women to stop financially investing in men they are dating.
Taking to her Instagram stories on Monday evening, Alma did not mince her words:
“Let’s stop investing in men!” she declared.
In her bold post, Alma warned that pampering men financially often backfires, claiming that many men grow complacent and end up being unfaithful.
“Men don’t like being pampered – and if a man gets too comfortable with it, he’ll take that money, go out, and cheat on you with someone beneath you,” she wrote.
She went on to encourage women to embrace self-worth and financial independence rather than dedicating themselves to molding or “building” a man.
“Ladies, stop building men. Invest in yourself and let a man meet you where you are,” she added.
“No one claps for women who sacrifice everything for a man who ends up choosing someone else.”
In a follow-up post laced with sarcasm, Alma jabbed:
“If you build a man, he will cheat on you. Nimesha waambia, nyinyi endeleeni tu kubuild.”
(“I’ve already told you all—go ahead and keep building.”)
Though she did not mention any specific names, Alma hinted at personal betrayal, suggesting that she once supported a partner through tough times only to be abandoned once he found success.
