An 18-year-old woman was brutally murdered on the night of Friday, June 6, in a suspected love triangle incident in Mferejeni village, Kijipwa, Kilifi County.
The deceased, identified as Faridah Changawa, was stabbed in the neck by her husband, Lewis Karissa, who accused her of infidelity. According to police reports, Karissa trailed her to her parents’ home, where the incident occurred.
Faridah’s mother told police that Karissa had joined the family for supper that evening. After the meal, he requested a private conversation with his wife outside the house. At the time, their six-month-old baby was sleeping inside.
What began as a conversation quickly turned violent after Karissa confronted Faridah for allegedly failing to return to their rented home while he was away. Despite Faridah denying the accusations, the argument escalated. Police say Karissa drew a knife and stabbed her multiple times, including in the neck, cheeks, and upper right arm.
The attack happened just meters from her family’s home. Faridah’s brother, who was inside the house, rushed out upon hearing her screams but arrived too late to save her. She succumbed to her injuries at the scene.
“The killer weapon was found stuck in the throat,” police said.
The suspect fled immediately after the attack. Kilifi police officers visited the scene and moved the body to a local mortuary pending an autopsy.
A manhunt has been launched for Karissa, with authorities vowing to bring him to justice.
