A police officer was brutally killed after his motorcycle ran out of fuel in Rarieda, Siaya County, on Thursday, July 17.
Constable Christone Maundu, attached to Aram Police Station, was found dead along the Ndori–Luanda Kotieno Road, near Rarieda Secondary School. According to police reports, his body bore deep cuts to the head, suggesting a violent attack.
Authorities said the motive behind the murder remains unclear. “The motive of the murder is yet to be known,” police stated.
Maundu had reportedly been returning to Aram Shopping Centre after escorting two colleagues when his motorcycle stalled due to lack of fuel. He contacted his fellow officers to request assistance.
“By the time the colleagues arrived at the scene, they found him lying in a pool of blood and motionless,” police said.
The motorcycle was found next to his body, and the attackers had already fled the scene by the time help arrived.
An investigation into the incident is ongoing as police work to identify and apprehend the assailants.
