The young woman, Linet Nkatha, was a student at TIBS College in Thika Town. Her lifeless body was found on the floor of their rented house in the Witeithie estate on Wednesday, August 6, according to local police reports.
Area residents said they were alarmed after not seeing the couple for hours and decided to check on them. It was then that they found Linet’s body lying in the sitting room, showing clear signs of strangulation.

Further inspection led to the shocking discovery of the body of Dickson Muriithi Mutwiri, aged 36, hanging from the ceiling with a manila rope tied around his neck. Next to his body, police found a handwritten suicide note addressed to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Juja.
In the note, Muriithi reportedly confessed to killing Linet and provided the contact details of his mother, hinting that the act may have been premeditated. Police have withheld the full contents of the letter, which is now being analyzed by forensic experts.
Police Investigation Underway
The bodies of both the deceased were moved to the General Kago Funeral Home in Thika, where postmortems will be conducted. Police from Juja Police Station have launched a comprehensive investigation into the matter, including analyzing the contents of the suicide note and interviewing relatives and neighbors.
