Detectives investigating the murder of Nairobi lawyer Kyalo Mbobu say they have obtained crucial CCTV footage that is helping piece together his final movements before the brutal attack near his Karen home.
Critical CCTV Footage Collected
According to police, surveillance footage from private buildings and public streets along Mbobu’s route is central to the ongoing probe. Investigators are mapping his movements from his city office to Sagret Hotel on Milimani Road, and eventually to the scene of the fatal ambush.

Meeting at Sagret Hotel
Records show that Mbobu arrived at Sagret Hotel at 11:05 a.m. on Tuesday, where he held a three-hour meeting with several individuals who are now being treated as persons of interest.
Sale receipts and timestamps indicate that the group shared lunch costing Ksh3,800. At 1:45 p.m., Mbobu left the hotel and returned to his Chester House office.
Police have also obtained mobile phone data, which is being scrutinized for clues into the killing.
Lawyer’s Final Journey Before Murder
Later that day, at 5:09 p.m., Mbobu departed Chester House. Surveillance and phone records show his route through:
- Wabera Street
- City Hall Way
- Parliament Road
- Uhuru Highway
- Nyayo Roundabout
- Lang’ata Road
- Before diverting onto Magadi Road.
He was only minutes from reaching his Boyani residence in Karen when his assailants, who had been trailing him, executed the fatal attack with chilling precision.

Investigations Ongoing
Police are now pursuing several suspects linked to the meeting at Sagret Hotel and the subsequent ambush. Detectives say the combination of CCTV evidence, phone records, and witness testimonies will be crucial in unmasking those behind the murder.
