Police in Vihiga County have arrested a man found in possession of 320 rolls of cannabis during a Thursday morning operation in Mpaka Village.

According to a statement released by the National Police Service (NPS), the arrest followed a tip-off from members of the public, prompting officers to conduct a swift raid on the suspect’s residence.

Suspect in Custody, Drugs Secured as Evidence

The suspect was apprehended at the scene and escorted to the local police station, where he is being held pending processing and arraignment.

“The drugs were seized and secured as evidence at the same station,” the police service said in an official statement.

The operation is part of ongoing efforts by law enforcement to curb drug trafficking and abuse in the Western region, where police have recently stepped up surveillance.

Authorities have urged residents to continue sharing intelligence that helps dismantle illegal narcotics networks.
