Content creator Mjaka Mfine has shut down rumours claiming she is dating fellow digital creator Mokaya, clarifying that their relationship is “strictly work partners.” She made the revelation during an interview with journalist Shiksha Arora, after weeks of online speculation.
The young creator, whose real name is Mitchelle, has also recently been linked to Lang’ata MP Phelix Odiwuor, popularly known as Jalang’o, after leaked private chats surfaced online. The conversations had fueled claims that the MP was financially supporting her or that the two were romantically involved.
However, Mjaka Mfine has now explained that the entire saga originated from a missing iPhone she lost during a university event. Days later, she spotted a man identified as Cedo advertising a phone that resembled hers at a suspiciously low price.
Although she confronted him, she could not prove ownership. When police were unable to trace the device, she reached out to influential individuals—including Jalang’o—for help.
According to Mitchelle, she shared Cedo’s number with the MP, who later joined a call involving herself, Cedo’s mother, and the seller in an attempt to resolve the dispute. She emphasized that the leaked chats were strictly part of this recovery effort.
“My relationship with Jalang’o was purely about recovering the missing phone and nothing else,” Mjaka Mfine stated.
She also dismissed claims that the MP finances her lifestyle.
“I still depend on my parents for financial support. I only reached out to Jalang’o out of desperation after losing my phone,” she added, noting that she has call recordings and text messages to support her version of events.
