A two-and-a-half-year-old boy has died after falling from the third floor of an apartment building in Ongata Rongai, Kajiado County.

According to police, the child was playing with other children on the balcony when the tragic incident happened on December 8.

Metal Grill Gave Way

Witnesses told investigators that the toddler leaned against a metal grill on the balcony, which suddenly cracked, causing him to fall to the ground floor.

Residents rushed the injured boy to a nearby hospital, but he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival due to severe injuries.

Police Investigations Underway

The body has since been moved to the mortuary pending further procedures, including a possible inspection of the building’s structural integrity.

Authorities are expected to probe whether poor maintenance or negligence contributed to the fatal balcony failure.
