Kenyan cross-dresser, digital content creator, and influencer Kelvin Kinuthia has revealed plans to legally change the name on his Identification Card (ID), citing constant confusion and unsolicited reactions whenever he presents it.
In a video shared on his official social media account on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, Kinuthia explained that the mismatch between his appearance and official name has become exhausting. He said people often react with disbelief, with some even implying he may have stolen someone else’s ID.
“Nikama tutabadilisha jina za ID, juu weeeh, guys am suffering, mimi nataka munisaidie, nani anajua kwenye naweza enda kubadilshia ID kwa sababu huku unapeana ID alafu mtu anakuuliza, na yako iko wapi?’ hadi unashanga,” Kinuthia said.
“I think I should just go and get my ID changed, kama kuna mtu anajua vile nitabadilisha hiyo ID munipe connections. Karibu waseme nimeiba ID ya mtu. I am tired of explaining myself.”
Asking Followers for Name Suggestions
Kinuthia, who is known for his feminine looks, including hair, makeup, nails, and outfits, appealed to his followers for help in choosing a new name.
“Niite just a name, niipatie jina gani? Ebu Mnitapitieni jina,” he said.
Other Updates
The influencer recently revealed plans to undergo a uterus transplant surgery, showing that personal transformation remains a significant part of his journey.
Kinuthia’s decision to seek a legal name change reflects the broader challenges faced by individuals whose gender expression does not align with traditional expectations, as well as the need for societal understanding and acceptance.
