Nairobi County Chief Officer for Citizen Engagement and Customer Service Geoffrey Mosiria has announced the successful fundraising of KSh500,000 to support the family of viral “Kwa Mbae” boy Musa Kihara.
The funds are aimed at assisting Musa’s brother, Lewis Baraka, who is currently battling throat cancer.
Funds to Support Ongoing Treatment
In a statement shared on April 27, Mosiria revealed that Baraka is undergoing treatment at Kenyatta University Teaching and Referral Hospital following surgery.
“God used Mbae to help his sick brother, who was battling throat cancer, get help to go to KUTRH, where he is undergoing treatment after surgery,” Mosiria said.
Collaboration with Content Creators
Mosiria credited content creator Obidan for bringing him on board the initiative, which rallied support from well-wishers.
He noted that the KSh500,000 raised is part of a broader target of KSh2 million needed to fully support the family’s medical expenses.
“I managed to fundraise for them KSh500K out of their target of 2M,” he added.
Support Extended to Boda Boda Rider
In addition to helping the family, Mosiria said plans are underway to support the boda boda rider who recorded the viral clip that brought attention to Musa’s story.
He revealed that he has already contributed KSh20,000 to assist the rider with immediate needs and expressed intentions to help him acquire his own motorcycle.
