Police in Kangema Sub-County are investigating a suspected drowning incident after the body of an unidentified man was discovered in River Mathioya.
Body Found Trapped Between Rocks
According to police, the incident was reported at around 3:28 p.m. on Monday after the body was spotted floating in the river within Rwathia location.
Officers who responded to the scene found the body of a man believed to be around 50 years old, trapped between rocks in the middle of the river.
No Visible Injuries
Preliminary observations indicated that the body had no visible physical injuries, leading investigators to suspect drowning as the possible cause of death.
Body Moved to Mortuary
The body was retrieved and transported to Kangema Hospital mortuary, where it awaits a postmortem examination.
Identification Efforts Ongoing
Authorities say efforts are underway to identify the deceased and establish the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.
