A suspected robber targeting an M-PESA outlet has been killed by a mob in the Mamboleo area of Kisumu.

Suspect Attacked by Crowd

According to witnesses, the man had previously attempted to rob the same M-PESA shop a few days earlier but was unsuccessful.

He reportedly returned and made another attempt, prompting the shop operator to raise an alarm.

Mob Justice Incident

Members of the public responded swiftly, apprehending the suspect as he attempted to flee the scene. He was then fatally assaulted by the crowd in what authorities describe as a case of mob justice.

Police Response

Police officers later arrived at the scene and collected the body, which was taken to the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital (JOOTRH) morgue.

Concerns Over Mob Justice

The incident highlights the growing concern over mob justice in parts of the country, with authorities continuing to warn the public against taking the law into their own hands.

Police have reiterated that suspects should be handed over to law enforcement agencies to ensure due process and justice is served.
