NAIROBI, Kenya — Hiram Gitau, popularly known as Tash and the widower of late gospel singer Betty Bayo, has won praise online after surprising his stepdaughter, Sky Victor, with a lavish birthday celebration at their family home.
Sky shared a TikTok video of the surprise on Thursday, August 27, 2026, capturing the emotional moment Tash appeared to reprimand her for arriving home late before revealing that the confrontation was part of an elaborate birthday surprise.
Tash Pretends to Be Angry With Sky
Sky arrived home accompanied by her close friend, Ginette, only to find Tash waiting for her.
He questioned the young woman over allegedly breaking the curfew he had set for her. Sky attempted to explain her lateness, saying Ginette’s phone had run out of power while her own phone line was also not working.
After the brief confrontation, Tash eventually allowed the two to enter the house.
Unknown to Sky, her family and friends were waiting inside.
As she walked through the door, those gathered shouted “Surprise!”, leaving her visibly overwhelmed with excitement.
Family Joins Birthday Celebrations
The dining area had been decorated with a birthday cake, food and refreshments as family and friends gathered to celebrate Sky.
The celebrations quickly turned lively, with music, dancing and laughter filling the home.
Sky was seen dancing with those present, including Tash and her brother Danny, as she enjoyed the special occasion.
Tash later took Sky to the dining area and showed her the birthday arrangements before welcoming everyone to the table for the cake-cutting ceremony.
Sharing the video, Sky revealed that she had initially believed her stepfather was genuinely upset about her late arrival home.
“I thought my dad was confronting me but this happened,” Sky captioned the video.
The celebration has offered a glimpse into the close bond between Tash and Sky, with the widower continuing to play a fatherly role in the lives of Betty Bayo’s children.
