Chief Inspector Agnes Ndanu has been arrested by detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Matungulu over allegations that she pushed her 25-year-old girlfriend, Nicole Omondi, from the sixth floor of an apartment in Nairobi’s Thome Estate.
The arrest follows a manhunt launched by Kasarani detectives after the incident, which left Omondi with severe spinal injuries. Ndanu is expected to be arraigned in court once processing procedures are complete.
Kasarani Sub-County DCIO Aloyce Mboya had earlier stated that the officer’s position in the National Police Service would not shield her from prosecution. Investigations are being overseen by the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) because the suspect is a serving police officer.
According to investigators, the incident is alleged to have occurred after a dispute between the two at the apartment. Detectives recovered blood-stained bedding and broken glass from the scene and are also reviewing phone records as part of the ongoing investigation.
Nicole Omondi remains admitted at Kenyatta National Hospital, where she is receiving treatment for serious spinal injuries sustained in the fall.
Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
