Cody Rhodes has finally achieved his long-awaited destiny.
In the headline match of WrestleMania 40 on Sunday, Rhodes went head-to-head against “The Tribal Chief” Roman Reigns. Rhodes found himself in a challenging position after losing the main event of WrestleMania’s first night on Saturday, where he and Seth Rollins were defeated by Roman Reigns and The Rock. Consequently, Rhodes’ Undisputed WWE Universal Championship match on night two was governed by Bloodline Rules.
Despite the obstacles posed by the Bloodline, Rhodes remained undeterred.
The match saw significant interference from Reigns’ family members, with Jimmy Uso being the first to intervene. However, Rhodes had allies by his side. Jey Uso engaged in a brawl with his brother, eventually spearheading Jimmy off the stage.
Even though Solo Sikoa delivered a devastating Spike to Rhodes, the American Nightmare refused to stay down. Not even the combined efforts of a Spear and a Samoan Spike managed to halt Rhodes’ determination. John Cena entered the fray, neutralizing Sikoa and delivering his signature Attitude Adjustment to Reigns, followed by putting Solo through the announcer’s table.
The Rock then made a dramatic entrance, leading to a tense standoff with Cena before administering a decisive Rock Bottom to him. Reigns thwarted any assistance from Seth Rollins with a Superman Punch, only for The Undertaker to make a surprise appearance, delivering a Chokeslam to The Rock.
Rhodes received support from those who had suffered at the hands of the Bloodline in the past. With resilience and determination, he executed three Cross Rhodes maneuvers on Reigns, securing the victory.
