At least eight individuals lost their lives in a tragic road accident on Tuesday morning in the Ngata area of Nakuru along the Nakuru-Eldoret highway. The accident, involving three vehicles, claimed the lives of the victims, as confirmed by authorities.
According to Rift Valley police boss Tom Odera, the vehicles involved in the accident were a Toyota van and two lorries. The collision marked a grim start to the day, adding to the toll of road fatalities in the region.
In total, the accidents resulted in the deaths of at least 14 individuals within a span of a few hours, with seven others sustaining injuries and currently receiving medical treatment in hospitals.
Providing details of the Nakuru accident, police reported that it occurred at the notorious Ngata blackspot around 5:40 am. Allegedly, one of the lorries traveling from Eldoret to Nakuru experienced brake failure, leading to the tragic collision.
The driver of the lorry fled the scene following the accident, and authorities are currently working to locate and arrest him.
