The Budget and Appropriations Committee has allocated more money to the Parliament and the Executive for the next financial year bringing the total increased allocation to Ksh 52 billion.
The Nyoro-led house team has increased the amount of money allocated to Parliament by Sh2 billion. This brings the total to Sh43 billion, up from the initial Sh41 billion proposed by the Treasury.
The Executive, on the other hand, will receive an additional Sh50 billion, bringing its budget to Sh2.48 trillion from the earlier Sh2.43 trillion.
The Judiciary’s budget remains unchanged at Sh23.69 billion, as suggested by the National Treasury and approved by the Cabinet.
Additionally, the Budget Committee led by Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro recommended allocating Sh391.1 billion to county governments as their fair share, along with Sh7.9 billion to the Equalisation Fund.
Furthermore, counties will receive an extra Sh48 billion in conditional allocations, subject to approval through the County Government Additional Allocation Bill, 2024.
“Once approved by this House, these recommendations will be the basis for the financial year 2024-25 budget estimates,” the committee stated.
