Detectives from Buruburu police station successfully rescued a third-grade pupil from suspected kidnappers who had demanded a hefty Ksh.10 million ransom. The incident was confirmed in a statement released by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Sunday.
The ordeal began when the father of the 9-year-old pupil arrived at the school in Donholm to pick up his child, only to discover that the boy was missing. He soon learned that his son had left the school premises in the company of his class teacher, a person named Erick Mosoti.
Desperate attempts to contact the teacher proved futile, and the situation took a dark turn when the father received a distressing call from the kidnappers, who demanded an exorbitant ransom. In response, the father promptly reported the harrowing situation to the local police.
A coordinated effort involving the Nairobi Region Command and DCI Buruburu was launched to rescue the abducted child. Fortunately, they located the minor in the Kayole Sabasaba area and swiftly took him to the hospital for a thorough medical evaluation.
The DCI reported that the young victim had been confined in a room suspected to have been rented by another teacher named George Odhiambo, who was employed at the same school as the primary suspect.
Fredrick Odhiambo, the individual responsible for making the ransom demands, was later apprehended. During his arrest, law enforcement recovered a motorcycle, a mobile phone, and other items believed to have played a role in facilitating the crime.
However, the authorities have initiated a manhunt to track down additional suspects who are still at large, ensuring that all individuals involved in this disturbing incident are brought to justice.
