President William Ruto is scheduled to address the nation today at 1 pm.
The announcement was made by State House spokesman Hussein Mohammed following a second cabinet meeting this week. The meeting focused on discussing additional measures to mitigate the devastating effects of flooding, mudslides, and landslides in various parts of the country. The address is expected to concentrate on the flood situation.
Currently, the national flood-related death toll has reached 188, with 151 adults and 37 children among the victims. Additionally, 125 people have been injured, and 90 are reported missing. Furthermore, approximately 33,100 households, totaling around 165,500 individuals, have been displaced.
A weather forecast for the next three months predicts average to above-average rainfall across the country. Consequently, flooding is anticipated in low-lying areas, along with the risk of landslides and mudslides.
