Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has promised to visit freedom fighter Dedan Kimathi’s widow Mukami who is being detained at a Nairobi hospital over a Sh1 million bill.

Mukami was admitted to a hospital in Nairobi on January 5 after suffering pneumonia symptoms. She was discharged on January 12 but has not been allowed to leave the hospital due to the medical bill.

“We are calling out on Kenyans of goodwill to come to our aid. We are helpless as we cannot afford the medical bill,” said Mukami through her daughter Miriam yesterday.

Well, their cry for help has reached the second in command who has said he will help to sort the medical bill later today after he returns to Nairobi. The DP who is a descendant of the Mau Mau is currently in Bomet.

“I am saddened that Mukami, the wife of the hero of our freedom struggle Field Marshal Dedan Kimathi Wachiuri, has been ill and admitted at a Hospital in Nairobi,” said the DP.

“On my return to Nairobi later today, I will make time to visit our mother to check on her progress and assess possible interventions to make her life more comfortable,” he said.

I wish her quick recovery and God’s blessings.
