A retired senior chief in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County, was on Tuesday, January 17 arrested and arraigned in court for defiling a minor.

68-year-old William Sang, a former chief of Kimumu location on the outskirts of Eldoret town, is accused of defiling the 17-year-old girl on Boxing Day (December 26, 2022).

Sang allegedly committed the offence at a lodging in Kaptagat, Elgeyo Marakwet County.

The retired administrator, who is also a former GSU officer, denied the charges and pleaded with Eldoret Senior Resident Magistrate Christine Menya to release him on bail.

He was eventually released on a bond of KSh200,000.
