Businessman David Langat’s expertise in business and governance has been noted once again after Sports and Youth Affairs Cabinet Secretary Ababu Namwamba appointed him as a member of the newly established Talanta Council.
The council whose term will last for three years is supposed to nurture young talents in order to grow the sector and propel the country into a sporting giant in the region.
According to the Gazette Notice dated Friday, February 10, the council was created in line with President William Ruto’s directive to nurture sporting talents.
The council is expected to roll out the Talanta Hela program in all the 47 counties in order to promote sports talent, especially among the youth.
Other members of the council which will be chaired by the CS himself include digital strategist Dennis Itumbi, Kizito Wangalwa, David Langat, Debra Mallowah, Abraham Kipyego Mutai Charles Gacheru, Claudia Naisabwa Leshomoo, Nobert Ouma, and June Chepkemei.
Langat who is famously known as DL is already part of President William Ruto’s Economic Advisory Council.
The council which was formed in December is a think tank of business leaders from the private sector tapped in by the President in order to help him actualise his plans for inclusive economic growth and development.
Dr Ruto — who rode to power on a platform of deliberately promoting investment and financial instruments targeting millions of unemployed youth, micro-enterprises and farmer groups — has been championing policies which will spur rapid and inclusive socio-economic transformation.
