Narok Central Sub County Police Commander Frederick Shiundu has been arrested after investigations into his kidnapping on Wednesday revealed that he was lying.

Shiundu had told his seniors that he was accosted at his gate when he wanted to access his house by criminals who forcefully took his firearm make Jericho number 44330865.

This is after his wife Ngome Nangambala called Narok County Police Commander Kizito Mutoro at 12:06 am on Wednesday morning saying that her husband had been kidnapped.

The police commander quickly assembled a team of officers and rushed to the scene. They found the Shiundu’s car parked at the gate with its engine still running.

As they were searching for him, the officers received a message that their counterpart had been found by a watchman at around 3.30am at Tipis area near a river. His firearm that was loaded with 14 rounds of 9mm was also missing.

“The officer was later tracked at the Tipis area about 77kms North of the Narok Town. The police used all means to ensure the officer is rescued,” said Mutoro at that time.

Today morning however after investigations into the kidnapping, it has emerged that Shiundu was not kidnapped and that he was lying all along.

Additionally he has been unable to explain where his officially issued fire arm went to prompting investigators to suspect that he faked his kidnapping in order to cover up for the lost gun.

He will be take to court on Monday.
