Well wishing Kenyans had by Saturday night fundraised at least Sh600,000 for veteran rapper Colonel Mustapha less than a day after he revealed that he is working at a construction site in order to assist his ailing mother.

In an interview with Eve Mungai, Mustapha said that he needs a job or capital to start a business so that he can put food on the table and pay for medication for his mother who is ailing from cancer.

During the interview, Mustafa expressed his gratitude to his fans and pleaded with them to support him in any way possible.

“The only thing I can ask my fans to help me with is work, so that I can continue to be with my mother because we do not know how chemotherapy will go, and they say it is something that can end or come back,” he said.

“We are asking for it to be on the safe side. I am asking my fans to support me in the work that I do, whether it is promoting my merchandise or music, so that I can support my mother. The pressure from my mother’s situation has pushed me to the limit.”

According to him his biggest headache is his mother’s expensive treatment.

“I don’t consider doing music; I need a job, something I can do, to help myself. I can manage a club, I can run a shop and I also have a shop that almost closing down because ‘nimekula stock yote,” he said.

“For now we have not registered a till number but they can still send it to my number 0722803924 –Daud Mustaspha.”

The rapper who last produced a song in 2020 said that he had worked at construction sites for over a year but kept it under wraps due to his status in the society. He also added that he quit music after his songs stopped becoming hits.

Following the interview by Eve Mungai, a group of well-wishers, steered by @FauzKhalid, came together and were able to raise Sh 600,000 for Colonel Mustapha and his family as of Saturday evening 9 PM.

“I am so humbled May Allah bless all those who are contributing Undugu sio kufanana,” said Khalid while promising that a pay bill will be set up as Mustapha’s phone had reached its transaction limit on Mpesa.
