Officers from Anti-Terror Police Unit (ATPU) last night raided controversial pastor Ezekiel Odero’s church in Mavueni, Kilifi and seized a number of items that they claimed are supposed to undergo testing in Nairobi.
“Officers from ATPU came to church on Tuesday and took communication items, computer drives, holy water, and handkerchiefs, explaining that it was for purposes of expert analysis,” stated Ombeta.
The incident was linked to ongoing police investigations into Pastor Odero’s relationship with notorious preacher Paul Mackenzie, who is currently in police custody on suspicion of having masterminded the deaths of over 200 of his followers through cultic preachings.
Coast Regional Commissioner Onyancha confirmed the arrest during a press conference, noting that Odero’s church was closed.
“This morning we have arrested Pastor Ezekiel Odero for allegations of the deaths that have been occurring at his premises and reported in various media institutions.
“We have also taken action and closed the prayer centre. We are urging and giving information to the public that the church has been closed and whatever was in there has been cleared out,” she stated.
On Monday, Milimani Court Magistrate Benmark Ekhubi granted pastor Ezekiel access to all his bank accounts which had been frozen for 15 days.
