Media personality Anne Kiguta has sued retired president Uhuru Kenyatta’s personal secretary Jomo Gecaga seeking Sh2.7 million monthly as child support. The journalist has in court papers claimed that Gecaga stopped providing for her two children with him in 2018.
She wants an order directing Gecaga to deposit a sum of Sh413 million as maintenance costs to cater for the monthly and occasional expenditure of his two children with her until they turn 18 years.
Gecaga is more than Uhuru’s private secretary. He is also the retired president’s nephew with a heritage of his own. He is a descendant of both the Koinange and Kenyatta bloodlines. Both families have been a critical part of Kenyan history, occupying positions of power in government and in the private sector.
His mother, Jeni Wambui, was Mzee Jomo Kenyatta’s only child with his third wife, Grace Wanjiku, who died while giving birth in 1950. His father, Udi Gecaga, was a respected corporate titan who sat on the boards of various companies.
It appears that Gecaga has always had an eye for media personalities. Most rich men with political connections in the country date or marry journalists who are out of their leagues and are years younger than them as trophy women anyway. The journalists’ beauty and public personas give them the social capital they crave as positive status symbols.

Before Kiguta, Gecaga used to date Valentine Njoroge, a radio presenter and newspaper sex columnist. The two have a son Udi and Valentine got a house in Runda for her efforts.
Gecaga met Kiguta in 2015 when she was a prime-time TV star. She had another daughter from a previous relationship who Gecaga had no problem providing for. He even moved Kiguta to a palatial home in Runda where the rent was a staggering Sh555,000 a month.
The house was spacious, fully furnished had seven bedrooms and a backup generator, according to court documents.
“It was situated on half an acre piece of land, in a gated community in one of the United Nations diplomatic zones. The house was in a very secure area since it shared a compound with an embassy.”
“In addition, the house was surrounded by a perimeter wall installed with an electric fence and an alarm system that was manned by police officers and a security company 24 hours.”
The home had skilled and qualified nannies, housekeepers, security guards, chefs, drivers to chauffeur and security to pick up and drop off the children at school.

Things took a nosedive when Gecaga began being spotted with former TV girl, fashionista and businesswoman, Lola Hannigan. The two attended the invite-only 40th birthday party of Nana, Gecaga’s younger sister at the Billionaire Resort in Malindi in March 2018. Kiguta was not on the guest list.
By this time, the rumour mill had already started that Gecaga and Kiguta were no longer an item. When asked if she was dating Gecaga, Lola at first declined.
“Whether I am dating Jomo Gecaga or not is no one’s business. People should find something better to do with their lives. People will always have their opinions and assumptions but no one has ever reached out to me before writing a story. They think that attacking me on blogs and social media will make me rant but I will not.”
When asked who bought her a Range Rover and financing her luxurious lifestyle she said, “No one is financing my life. I worked very hard for it.”
It was however clear that Kiguta just like Valentine Njoroge had gotten the bad end of the stick. Gecaga and Lola are still together and have two children together. Kiguta now wants Gecaga to continue providing the luxurious lifestyle he had given their two children when they were together.
From the Sh2.7 million she wants monthly, she says Sh600,000 monthly will be used for subsistence, Sh250,000 for utility bills including internet subscription, educational games, Wifi, Microsoft Xbox subscription, water bill, cooking gas, electricity bill, back-up generator fuel and car fuel.
She also wants Sh900,000 for her three children. The money will be used for extra-curricular activities during weekends, library membership, STEM club, horse riding at a reputable riding school as before, tennis and golf clubs and golf course.
She also wants Sh1 million for each child for birthday celebrations.
