Mobile giant Safaricom has rewarded athlete Faith Kipyegon with Sh2 million for shattering two World Records in the 1500m and 5000m races during the Diamond League.

The telecommunications giant celebrated Kipyegon’s remarkable accomplishments in a ceremony held on Monday, where her achievements were commended and recognized.

As part of the tribute, Safaricom unveiled a captivating wall mapping display of Kipyegon at their 29-floor skyscraper located in the heart of the central business district.

The presence of her image serves as a testament to her outstanding athletic prowess and contribution to putting Kenya on the global sporting map.

During the ceremony, Safaricom CEO Peter Ndegwa expressed his admiration for Kipyegon and praised her for elevating Kenya’s reputation in the world of athletics.

Ndegwa reiterated Safaricom’s commitment to supporting talent in the country and highlighted the company’s pride in Kipyegon’s exceptional performance, breaking two world records within a single week.

He also expressed his belief that her achievements would serve as motivation for aspiring athletes across the nation.

Ndegwa further emphasized Safaricom’s ongoing involvement in sports, recognizing its ability to inspire and impassion numerous Kenyans.

He applauded Kipyegon as a role model for young women, affirming Safaricom’s dedication to continuing its support for sports in recognition of its significance.

Expressing her gratitude to Safaricom, Kipyegon encouraged young athletes and fellow mothers to pursue their passions and aspirations, urging them to remain focused and steadfast in their beliefs.

Her powerful message emphasized the importance of following one’s heart and staying committed to personal goals and dreams.

Kipyegon’s record-breaking performances saw her complete the 1500m race with an impressive time of 3:49.11, while she achieved a remarkable 14:05.20 in the 5000m race.

With her sights now set on the upcoming IAAF Diamond League event in Monaco scheduled for July, she continues to display her unwavering dedication and determination to succeed.

Her ultimate goal for the year lies in the World Athletics Championship taking place in Budapest, Hungary from 19th to 27th August, where she aspires to leave an indelible mark.
