Demonstrating a remarkable spirit of community cooperation and generosity, Dr. Patrick Nyaga, the Chief Officer of Health Services at Thika Level 5 Hospital, united with the Jain Youth League, the County Health Management Team, Facility Board Members, and the Thika Level 5 Management Team for a momentous inauguration ceremony celebrating the renovated Eye Unit at the hospital.

This event marked a significant stride towards augmenting local healthcare amenities, achieved through the Jain Youth League’s substantial contribution of Sh10 million earlier this year. The funds were directed towards the expansion and renovation of the Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) clinic.

Addressing the gathering, Dr Nyaga articulated that this project not only underscored the league’s dedication to public health but also underscored the impact of united efforts for a noble cause.

“Thika Level 5 Hospital caters to a significant number of patients visiting our ENT clinic, not only from the nearby regions but also from the neighboring counties of Murang’a, Machakos, and Kitui. The generous donation from the league facilitated the much-needed expansion and renovation of the clinic,” he stated.

Furthermore, the facility has benefited from an assortment of equipment, including operating microscopes, slit lamps, mobile tables, a fundus camera, and an auto lensometer.

“At present, we are attending to over 100 ENT patients daily, and among them, about 25 require surgical interventions. Previously, this posed a challenge due to the deteriorated state of the decade-old facilities, which necessitated expansion and the procurement of state-of-the-art equipment for efficient service delivery. These issues have now been effectively addressed. Hence, we anticipate accommodating and treating a greater number of patients in the future,” Nyaga elucidated.

Milan Malden, the Chairman of Jain Youth League, affirmed their organization’s commitment to continued collaboration with the hospital for the welfare of the community’s residents.

“This collaborative endeavor shines as a symbol of hope, fostering stronger connections between healthcare institutions and community organizations, ultimately leading to a healthier and more vibrant community. We recognize that the contributions made will significantly improve the lives of residents by offering ongoing access to enhanced ENT services within the hospital. In this vein, we pledge to uphold our partnership with the facility in the times ahead,” Malden declared.
