Nancy Kigunzu, the businesswoman popularly known as ‘Mathe wa Ngara’, has been apprehended in connection to a drugs seizure in Ngara, Nairobi.
Kigunzu’s arrest took place on Monday evening in Nairobi, despite her efforts to seek anticipatory bail through the court in order to prevent her arrest.
Currently, she is slated to spend the night in police custody while awaiting her arraignment.
Kigunzu, who presented herself as a law-abiding citizen in court documents, stated that she has never committed any offense in Kenya. She emphasized that she has not been summoned by law enforcement officers nor has she faced any charges in relation to any crime.
Three additional individuals, including her two children, who were arrested in connection to the drugs discovery last week, will have their fate determined on Tuesday.
The anti-narcotics court will deliver a ruling to decide whether the police will be granted permission to extend their detention for an additional five days.
