A police officer has been arrested after assaulting his friend in Makongeni area, Nairobi.

The police constable who is attached to Muthithi police station in Murang’a county is also accused of selling a digital occurrence book tablet to the complainant.

The complainant returned the tablet to Makongeni police station after realizing the gadget was government property and he could not use it.

This angered the police officer leading to the officer assaulting the complainant who claimed he paid him Sh5,400 for the gadget.

The complainant reported the matter to police after the March incident prompting a probe.

The officer was later traced and arrested at his workstation. Police officials said he initially worked at the Makadara Law Courts.

The officials further added that the officer will be arraigned before Makadara law court on Thursday for a charge of assault causing actual bodily harm contrary to section 251 of the Penal Code.

The Internal Affairs Unit is still investigating the officer over the claims of misconduct and the sale of the gadget.
