In a significant drug bust, law enforcement authorities have confiscated a total of 600 kilograms of marijuana with an estimated value of Sh18 million.

The operation led to the interception of two separate consignments, one hidden within a hearse and the other on a motorcycle, highlighting the continuous efforts to curb drug trafficking.

The first interception occurred when vigilant officers pulled over a hearse branded as Rafiki Funeral Services-Othaya, headed to Kisumu.

During a routine traffic check, an officer noticed a peculiar odor emanating from the vehicle.

Upon further investigation, a search unveiled 12 sacks of cannabis sativa arranged within the vehicle. The driver, identified as Hussein Otita, was apprehended, and the hearse was impounded.

In a related incident, law enforcement based at Korondile police station in Wajir successfully recovered 58 kilograms of bhang while being transported on a motorcycle to Wajir town.

Two individuals, Osman Boru and Halkno Guchu, were detained by authorities pending their arraignment at Korondile police station.

The Anti-Narcotics Unit has taken charge of the investigations into both cases, emphasizing the commitment of law enforcement agencies to combat drug-related crimes and ensure the safety and well-being of the community.
